“CANINA” DEBUTS AT 2006 COMIC CON INTERNATIONAL IN SUPPORT OF NEWLY LAUNCHED, WEB-BASED COMIC BOOK SERIES

Los Angeles, CA -- July 19, 2006: www.IsmellTrouble.com is a web-based comic book site that tells the ongoing adventures of “Canina” - half-dog and half-woman - fighting for animal rights and rescue. The site launches today providing background of the heroine and how she came to be, plus the first in a series of journal entries detailing the work of she and her militia. Melissa Bacelar, Canina’s creator and alter ego, will appear at the 2006 Comic Con International in San Diego on Saturday, July 22nd to sign autographs and greet fans. “Canina” was originally created for Stan Lee’s Sci Fi Network show “Who Wants to be a Superhero?” which landed Melissa a spot as a finalist in the casting process.

Feeling strongly about the values created for Canina, Melissa Bacelar (ABC’s “One Life to Live” and horror films “Strange Things Happen at Sundown” and “Toxic Avenger 4: Citizen Toxie”) is combining her talents as writer, actress, and animal advocate. www.IsmellTrouble.com will continue her story as a web-based comic heroine with an online army of supporters, fans of the site and likeminded animal advocates. Designed to appeal to comic book lovers and animal activists alike, www.ismelltrouble.com will be updated with new stories, comic drawings, and resources from Canina and her pack.

“Comics have always been a commentary on society, whether that be the battle between good and evil or showing readers that differences can be strengths,” said Melissa Bacelar. “It’s time to turn the comic book ink on those who selfishly abuse animals who cannot defend themselves. Canina shows everyday citizens that by fighting for animals, they can be heroes too.”

Melissa was inspired to create Canina through her own experiences in animal rescue. In real life, she plays host to a menagerie of dogs, cats, and rabbits and spends her free time working to publicize orphaned animals in need of homes. MELISSA BACELAR SET TO STAR IN ZOMBIE ROMANCE -- FILM IS FIRST PROJECT FOR NEWLY-FORMED “LOST ANGELES FILMS”

Production Company Looking to Help Revive Horror Genre

Los Angeles, CA – June 27, 2006: Melissa Bacelar (www.melissabacelar.com) will star in “Eat Your Heart Out: A Zombie Love Story,” the first film for her newly formed Lost Angeles Films, produced in association with Savage Roses Productions. The Los Angeles-based company hopes to help revive the horror film genre by developing projects with character-driven plots and socially provocative themes, as well as creating powerful roles for women in horror, breaking victim stereotypes. Filming will begin in New York in Fall 2006.

“I got my start in horror films and the experiences I’ve had working on them have been invaluable,” said Melissa Bacelar, President/CEO, Lost Angeles Films. “I want to help bring some credibility back to the horror genre and I look forward to creating films that true horror fans can recognize and appreciate.”

Bacelar’s credits include “Strange Things Happen At Sundown;” “Toxic Avenger 4: Citizen Toxie;” “Dawn of the Locusts” and a recurring role on ABC’s “One Life to Live.” She founded The Network Studio acting school (New York/L.A.) in 2004, which offers 30 workshops a month and currently works with over 2000 actors.

“I love strong women in movies,” said Marc Fratto of Insane-O-Rama Productions. “Horror is one of the few genres where it's almost required that the lead role be given to a woman, but rarely do they get to have any of the butt-kicking fun that the guys do. I'd love to see more women bring their perspective to the genre.”

“Eat Your Heart Out: A Zombie Love Story,” also stars Joshua Nelson (“Last Rites of the Dead,”) James Tucker (“Aunt Rose”) will direct and Jeremy Selenfriend (“Monster in My Closet”) will manage special effects. Lost Angeles Films is also developing an animal rights-themed project based on a comic book character created by Bacelar, which earned her a place as a finalist in Stan Lee’s “Who Wants to Be a Superhero,” a reality show developed for SciFi Channel. The savage superheroine will make her online debut next month as a web-based comic book.
